Signs of the Summer

I know it's summer now for three main reasons.

(1) Before leaving school on Friday, I turned in my room key, the key to my filing cabinet, and the key to the computer lab I have since I'm the tech nerd. My keys are always a lot lighter in the summer time. I like this.
(2) I didn't put my watch on this morning, because it was summer. The only time that matters in the summer is when the movie starts at the theater.
(3) I had a magazine show up in the mail today. I read it cover to cover.
(4) Even though they had a little built-in carrying case in the RAV 4, my sunglasses felt like they were branding the small distorted ovalish shapes of the frames onto my face when I put them on. It was still hot in the carrying case.

But I was out to The River today, to work on something with the Lion King. Sitting on the porch and taking in the breeze from the lake felt pretty sweet.

Album of the Day: Because of the Times by Kings of Leon. I don't know if it's just late, but it felt like it took about three hours to play through this thing. Thirteen songs that tonight felt like at least thirty-seven, and at least twenty of those sounded pretty similar to each other. A couple really, really good songs on it, and more than just a couple that sounded like they could have earned Jack Daniels a nod of influence in the liner notes.

If he's the Lion King, does that make you Simba?
