Bonus / Prologue

Hello, everyone!

Today being April 30th (Happy birthday, Dave) means that tomorrow I'll be starting what has become an annual project for me: writing and publishing a new blog post every day throughout the month of May. 

I have ideas ready for at least most of the posts already, though I'm sure other things will occur to me along the way that might supplant some of those topics already in the queue. I feel like I have to open with what is probably a standard May disclaimer by now that because of the rapidity involved with writing and posting every day I'll probably have a few more grammatical and punctuation whoopsies slip by than I usually do, even though I do always try my best to proofread everything before I publish it here. But we're talking about what will amount to somewhere between 30,000 and 50,000 words in a month, so please try to overlook my weaker moments.

As it happens, two significant blog milestones will be reached during this year's posting marathon. A different one was reached last year and I held a small sort of contest to acknowledge it; I think I'll probably do something similar this year. I'm also going to try and put together a third contest as well: Each post this month will have something in common. I'm not going to say what it is, but if anyone does figure it out, I'll work out some kind of prize to go to the first person to correctly guess.

I also have a favor to ask, which goes directly to the people who will read this after following a link here from Facebook. One of the posts I have planned for later in the month will be related to discovering a new album, and by "new" I mean one that I'm not familiar with. If I need to I'll browse around and download something that looks interesting, but I'd much rather go with a recommendations. So, if you read this link off Facebook and you can think of a particular favorite album of yours that you think I should know, please leave your suggestion (or suggestions) as a comment to this post. Just no Beatles.
